Post Villa beauty and fashion couplings 

It’s been over a month now since we have tuned into Love Island 2022 however we haven’t stopped keeping up with every aspect of the Islanders life’s post villa. Every year there is the anticipation of what brands will couple up with which contestant, history has shown that the islanders who make it to the final usually land the biggest deals. The most notorious being Molly- Mae’s collaboration to creative director of PrettyLittleThing and Millie Courts ongoing collaboration with ASOS where she had previously worked at as a Buyer’s Assistant before winning the show. 

This year the show’s fashion partner was Ebay, dropping the usual fast fashion partner I Saw It First and obtaining for a more sustainable option. The change followed backlash from viewers critiquing the fact that the show was encouraging a disposable attitude to fashion. This years eBay pairing brought us some of the best outfits the show has seen so far. 

EBay X Tasha 

One contestant in particular had the attention of viewers in the second hand clothes paired with immaculate styling was Tasha Ghouri. So it only made sense for her to become eBay’s fashion ambassador. 

The collaboration is different to the usually love island x fast fashion, but it is exciting to see someone promoting conscious consumption and encouraging people to buy and sell their clothes on eBay. 

It will be interesting to see what comes of this collaboration and the outfits Tasha will be putting together.

PrettyLittleThing X Gemma  

Although this one is yet to be announced by PrettyLittleThing or Gemma, the collaboration has been confirmed by the press through leaked launch images. The collaboration has shocked viewers and not in a positive way. Many fans are unhappy that PrettyLittleThing had previously tweeted a retweet poll of both Gemma and Indiyah posing the questions of who fans would like to see, with Indiyah taking the lead but yet Gemma has got the collab. While PrettyLittleThing is facing the backlash of this it it is difficult to determine the situation , Indiyah’s style is better matched to brands such as Jaded London and perhaps Indiyah even turned down the brand. 

The collaboration has been speculated for some time with Gemma holding a PrettyLittleThing in a video of her first arriving home. However, the collaboration doesn’t seem organic, Gemma has become known for having a high end neutral and simplistic style quite the opposite of the style seen on PrettyLittleThing. Not only this but Gemma already has her own brand, a luxury swimwear line showcasing neutral tones and timeless designs, for a collaboration to work effectively and the consumer to believe what you are selling the values and branding must align. A brand such as House of CB would have made much more sense. 

It is difficult to determine the full extent of this unlikely coupling as there hasn’t been any further information released. Perhaps we will see a PrettyLittleThing luxury range with higher quality core items at a premium price - more suited to Gemma’s brand. 

Ekinsu X Who? 

This years winner Ekinsu is yet to announce any collaboration with a brand, while rumours were circling that she has signed with OhPolly it is yet to be confirmed. Although an OhPolly collaboration sounds just right for Ekinsu as it matches her style perfectly along with their gym brand Bo&Tee as Ekinsu became known for being an avid gym going during her time in the villa. Hopefully we see more than just a fashion collaboration from Ekinsu as she is TV gold. 

Many viewers even suggested that Ekinsu would make the perfect love island host, which interested Laure Whitmore has just announced on instagram that she will not be returning the host the show. Love Island has already confirmed a winter series, so it will be interesting to see who will replace Laura in hosting the show. 

As previously mentioned many viewers had anticipated that Indiyah would be receiving the PrettyLittleThing it is yet to be announced which brand she will be coupling up with. Other brands which have been speculated is Boots, this years beauty partner. Indiyah stunned viewers every night with her hair and makeup so this one would make perfect sense.
